Mr. Rappolt is regarded as an expert in atmospheric dispersion and transport of pollutants, particularly in the areas of complex terrain, including overwater/coastal meteorological regimes, as well as inter and intra building processes and urban settings. He is integral in pursuing development areas that entail application of technologies offered by the corporate staff. Mr. Rappolt has:
- Over 20 years experience with program management and technical experience in air quality and pollutant dispersion and measurement programs.
- Designed and implemented nearly 30 dispersion measurement programs using SF6 and perfluorocarbon based atmospheric tracer technologies.
- Conducted programs that provided practical mitigation of industrial odor impacts, particularly in waste water treatment and transportation systems.
- Designed and implemented chem-bio threat scenarios using Tracer's trademark simulants for projects involving the US Department of Defense, as well as fire and rescue agencies for crisis management training and research.
- Extensive monitoring systems experience, from inland remote sites to offshore meteorological studies involving ship-board/ offshore SODAR systems.
- Member of the San Diego Air Pollution Control Board, with experience providing environmental deposition to Hearing Boards and Boards of Supervisors regarding the effects of industrial development on the air environment.
- Active member of several professional organizations such as the Air and Waste Management Association, American Meteorological Society, Hazardous Waste Association of California and ASME
- Author of several published papers regarding his technical experiences and hundreds of reports concerned with environmental impacts
- Registered Environmental Assessor (REA) in the State of California (REA# 01451) and a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP # 04960066) certified by the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice (IPEP).
- Serves on the board of directors of the Bi-National Air Quality Alliance for the San Diego/Tijuana region
- Recognized as Member of the Year in 2001 by the Industrial Environmental Association of San Diego
Prior to joining Tracer, Mr. Rappolt was employed by Titan Systems, Inc., Energy Resources Company, Inc. and SAIC as a senior scientist and manager of Environmental & Engineering Programs. While at these organizations, Mr. Rappolt established specialized teams of scientists and engineers that conducted environmental permitting and problem solving. In the 1980's, his emphasis was to conduct environmental permitting support in areas related to oil production and transport, nuclear waste storage and handling, geothermal energy projects, toxic waste handling, and synfuel projects. Other research areas included the conduct of specialized tracer studies, particularly in the over water areas.
